Island in the Sun, 1957

Adaptation of a novel by Alec Waugh. Very diverse characters cross paths on the Caribbean island of Santa Marta, where a political conflict unfolds between a white, racist planter and a black, progressive candidate. This film was very controversial in its time for presenting relationships between characters of different races: it was boycotted by the Ku-Klux-Klan and banned in South Carolina
